How to read a visual card condition report

Understand the BGT Grade, subgrades, confidence and visible evidence—and the limits that keep a private visual report honest.

Example two-page BGT report with a large grade, card views and numbered evidence details

Start with the evidence, not only the number

The large BGT Grade is a compact summary of the visible condition found in the submitted frames. It is intentionally conservative, but it should never stand alone. Read the front and back evidence, the marked areas and the written observations before deciding what the number means for your card.

Each observation identifies a category, side, severity, confidence and the frame that supports it. That traceability matters: a report should not make a defect sound certain when the corresponding image does not show it clearly.

Use subgrades to understand the result

Centering, corners, edges and surface are shown separately because they describe different parts of condition. Two cards can reach a similar overall estimate for different reasons. One may have clean surfaces but weaker centering; another may be well centered with visible edge or corner wear.

Confidence is not a second grade. It describes how strongly the available images support the observations. Lower confidence can come from glare, blur, incomplete coverage or evidence that appears in only one frame. Below the accepted quality threshold, the correct outcome is recapture and token refund rather than a forced report.

Keep the limitations visible

A BGT report is based on images. It cannot feel an indentation, inspect beneath a sleeve, verify hidden alteration or authenticate a card. It does not certify condition and does not predict with certainty what another company will decide during an in-person process.

The PDF keeps its report ID and model, rubric and report-pack versions so that a result can be traced to the system that produced it. Reopening or sharing the same private report does not spend another G token.
